Book & Toy Gift Guide

We are delighted to share our annual gift guide for 2019-2020. The books and toys you’ll find inside have been chosen by Patricia Hunter-McGrath, Executive Director and atelierista of Branches Atelier, and have been tried and tested by the children of this Reggio Emilia inspired school.

The booklist provides educators, carers and parents with resources to broach important topics with preschool aged children. We recommend you read these books yourself before reading them with children to give yourself time to think through questions that might arise. We’ve prioritized finding books that highlight human diversity in the realms of cultural inclusion (anti-bias), language, gender, family structure, and socio-economics. We’ve also included a list of books which celebrate gratitude and responsible uses of our resources.

The toys are gifts that encourage creativity, imagination and problem solving and have all proven the test of time.
